Unofficial CPS1PSP Is Released With Cheat Support

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

PSP homebrew - Unofficial CPS1PSP now with cheat support

Fans of emulation will appreciate the newest release of CPS1PSP, which arrived to us today courtesy of homebrewer davex. This a fully-functional PSP-based emulator for PS1 games. The current update is based on a project created by the backyard brewer known only as NJ, whose original project surfaced back in October of 2007.

The new release made available here is an unofficial upgrade – more like a long-distance collaboration. Developer davex brings us CPS1PSP again with cheat support, so for all y’all who like to get a little rowdy with your gameplay, give this new drop a spin on your PSP. Thanks to NJ for throwing the ball and to davex for running with it. There are separate versions of CPS1PSP for the PSP Phat and the PSP Slim, for your gnarly convenience.

PSPDictionary v2.2.0: now with Yahoo! Babel Fish support

PSPDictionary v2.2.0 from developer Gefa is now available for download, so get your polyglot self out of bed, dressed, and ready to start speaking in tongues. The version 2.2.0 now supports Yahoo! Babelfish, providing the support of this extremely powerful Internet-based translator that works with entire phrases at a time. Here’s a snippet from the changelog:

PSPDictionary v2.2.0

  • Now the servers supported are two: langtolang.com and babelfish.yahoo.com. Using babelfish.yahoo.com now it is possible to translate, besides words, also phrases

Again, we just adore translation applications, because the more of us we can include in the conversation, the more gnarly our lives will be. Mad props to Gefa for his critical work in this genre of homebrew. Grab the download here and check it out right away.

CXMB Manager Beta 1 Released

A fresh drop from young adventurer Mr. Shizzy promises to really clean up your CTF theme collection. CXMB Manager Beta 1 is a savory slice of underground pie that’ll help you catalog, sort, and organize your files. Here’s the feature list:

CXMB Manager Beta 1 features:

  • Allows you to store unlimited CTF themes.
  • Allows full screen previews.
  • Fully functional favorites list. (Add, remove, ect…)
  • Does not interfere with being able to apply ctf themes in xmb.
  • Allows importing of custom_theme.dat from Flash1.
  • Allows information to be stored/displayed for each theme.

Gnarly. You’ll have to give it a thorough run-through in order to discover its compatibility issues, but we’re sure that future releases will install and run without a hitch. Thanks to Mr. Shizzy for his sizzling homebrizzle dizzle.

Luna Is A Customizable PSP Shell And It’s Ready For Your Consideration

Sunday, February 1st, 2009

Hyperhacker, an experienced basement brewer, has finally made public his pet project, Luna. Luna is the first fully customizable PSP shell, and it’s authored entirely in LUA. Check out these words from the scientist himself:

“Luna is designed to replace the XMB, and to be completely customizable. Luna skins are Lua scripts (hence the name), which gives them total flexibility without involving any difficult hex editing or dangerous flashing. 3D menus, background music, animation, alpha blending, whatever you want. You could go all-out and make a 3D world like Super Mario 64, jumping into paintings to run games. Or you could keep it simple, and have a text-based menu and maybe a background image. Or anywhere in between. You can even have no interface at all, and just assign a game to each button.”

You’ll want to peruse the included documentation in order to get started correctly. It’ll speak to the creation of custom skins, how to disable sound, and how to toggle some other options of interest. Again, this project is still in beta, so feedback will be appreciated. Says Hyperhacker again:

  1. Not all of the built-in programs work yet (but you can launch XMB as if it were a homebrew app to use them), and
  2. The skin API could change in future versions. Once the final version is out, backward compatibility will be maintained as much as possible. I appreciate any feedback on the API design while there’s still time to change it. (Take a look at the comments in main.h to see what’s already planned, though.)

Jam this piece of code onto your Portable and jump into the future of small-screen customization.
