The fantastical, no-nonsensical, super-pragmatical underground dibble-double-down-developer EXTER has just tweaked his much revered Rubik’s Cube game for the PSP, and it’s available here, right now, as PSP Rubik’s Cube v1.4. In this gnarly new version, you can change the view angle of the cube to 36 degrees and higher.
Right, so, in case you forgot: The Rubik’s Cube was actually invented in 1974 by the Hungarian sculptor Ernő Rubik. This thing has sold 350 million units worldwide, so it’s technically the world’s number-one selling puzzle game.
With the original 3 x 3 x 3 cube (the one seen here), there are 8! (40,320) different arrangements of just the corner cubes. There are 12!/2 (239,500,800) different ways to arrange the edges. So, all said and done, there are precisely 43,252,003,274,489,856,000 possible arrangements of the Rubik’s Cube – just about forty-three quintillion.
Grab the software package here and enjoy getting started counting them all.
