Still a work in progress, the JPCSP Java-based PSP emulator for the PC gets an update from Shadow and the gang once more. Though it’s yet another minor bug fix update, it’s still progress - which is always a good thing. This version carries two new improvements, so you guys might want to update your old versions and give this a spin.

Changelog:

  • sceSasCore: fixed problem due to multi-threaded access (now synchronized methods)
  • sceAudio: play the audio output larger than the AudioLine buffer size in a background thread (analog to sceSasCore). This should improve the audio output for large sound data.

It’s official guys. PlayStation Portable users will be getting an iron fist straight up their you-know-whats when Tekken 6 hits the PSP, which will be right alongside the game’s PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions. Namco Bandai is shooting for a Q4 launch for the home console versions but we don’t have a clear-cut release date yet.

The PSP version will feature additional content, stages, and items as well as an ad-hoc multiplayer mode using “original” and “fan favorite” characters. It’ll also have a “Ghost” infrastructure mode that will let players upload their characters’ data and download that of others.

Be patient, everyone. Davee’s HEN Kernel exploit will eventually arrive given time. To tide over that wait, here’s a little video demonstrating the 5.03 HEN in action. This one was posted by Granite, one of the beta testers of Davee (Team Typhoon).

Here’s his little note about the video (check out that last line - we still have something to expect for later!):

This is a demo of the 5.03 firmware running the tiff exploit and booting into a HEN environment on a PSP 2003 (3000 Support also) on 5.03 Official Firmware. This proves that the code survives a reboot and the…

We’ve heard rumblings of a new PSP sans UMD in the past, and sources have now confirmed the rumor and added a date of announcement: E3, merely a month away.

1Up’s sources claim the new PSP hardware will adopt the moniker “PSP Go!,” and yes, that exclamation mark is correct. They further claim the PSP Go! will boast 8GB or 16GB of internal storage, because the handheld will be doing away with Sony’s UMD format in favor of downloadable games. More details:

  • There will not be an added joystick (sorry shooter fans), but the controls will slide out from under the screen…

Developer WilLoW returns with quite a hefty changelog for “Wagic the Homebrew.”  WilLoW – Wagic is an heroic fantasy trading card game in which you play as a sorcerer against the AI. It is inspired by the rules of a famous card game that shalt not be named, because it would then be free advertising for Wizards of the Coast and apparently they don’t like that.

V0.6.0 changes and download…

  • New card: Clone! (thanks gdspsp!)
  • New game mode: Momir Basic! Play against the AI with more than 800 creatures in a mix of random fun and strategy! I’ll explain later on this blog…
