The acclaimed underworld algorithm archnemesis, Zx-81, is back with an update to his critically revered homebrew text editor, PSPWrite. With the jump to PSPWrite v1.2.1, Zx-81 offers up a clutch read-only mode that enables the PlayStation Portable to function as a book reader. Also, you’ll be able to work closely even with the more gargantuan of text files in both conventional DOS and Unix modes. Check out a few words from the developer himself, who does wish us all a Happy Easter, to boot:
Here is a new version of PSPWrite the text editor for PSP.
- It permits to edit even huge text file, in both dos and unix mode, using iso8859-1 (8bits) characters encoding.
- All iso8859-1 characters are present in the “Danzeff like” virtual keyboard.
- The IR keyboard support is based on the work of Harald Fielker.
- It has been developed on linux for Firmware 1.5 and 5.x-m33, and for the IR keyboard part it has been tested using a Targus Universal IR Wireless keyboard on PSP FAT.
What’s new then in 1.2.1 ? very few things :
- Add read-only mode to use pspwrite as a book reader
- Fix issue with sleep mode (psp crash)
- How to use it ? Everything is in the README.txt file.
- Sources are included, and this package is under the GNU public license, read COPYING.txt file for more information about it.
Thanks again to Zx-81, without whose diligent efforts in the arduous struggle of underworld homebrewing we would never have such a delightful treasure as this one.

1.2.0 works with m33-6 this release will not for some reason ( just the ir keyboard support is not functional – everything else works) 1.2.0 is compatible with pikey as app1 or in game folder this one is not…weird because it is identical code??? so if you use a keyboard stick with the last release…
