Armored Core 3 Portable Officially Announced

Armored Core 3 Portable

From Software announced their plans to port the popular PlayStation 2 game, Armored 3, to the PlayStation Portable, signaling to devotees of the series a possible renewal in earnest of production interest in the game. An article in Famitsu suggests that the port will include some new gameplay sections and a few minor tweaks to the system, but most enthusiasts speculate that the real significance of the game is to hold the place of the series until a full-fledged new release emerges.

Armored Core 3 was arguably the best game in the series and the port is certainly appreciated, but real devotees of the plotline anxiously await a genuinely new installment. It’s curious to note that the developers chose to port Armored Core 3 instead of Armored Core 4, though the executive decision could be indicative of the direction in which the series is now headed.

The worst case scenario, though, is that the new port is just a delay tactic, pushing off an inevitable dissolution of its parent company in the tumultuous economy. However, most of their games are still selling steadily, so we can only hope that we’re not to intuit anything foreboding from the release of Armored Core 3 for the PlayStation Portable.
