I’ve always been a fan of the Tekken series, probably even before my kid cousin got so gaga over it. So when Tekken 6 was released, we immediately tried it out in arcades. Yep, complete with the memory card that can store what characters you are mastering… and what stage you are currently in.
But besides those added feature to the new Tekken, I was immediately smitten with the new visual effects that was added by some computer software genius. For Tekken’s 15th anniversary, Katsuhiro Harada took the Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion movement to the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 to bring to new heights the game’s graphics. One of the things I loved about the new release is the full-time variable motion blur effect—a first for fighting games—that made the character’s movements more realistic by blurring the directions of their movements.
Harada says it is not like the partial blurring effect that was used in past games; this one’s on the top of the blurring vision effects. It’s like no other. The effect depends on the movement’s style and speed, which personally I know can be reset by the player—it could also be turned on or off depending on your preference. But for maximum effect, I suggest you turn the visual on. It’s simply stunning.
Here are caps of the effect: The ones on the left are without he motion blur effect, and the one on the right are the ones who had it on.
It’s pretty difficult to appreciate it as screencaps. And a video might be better. Check this site out in the future for a video. I have to scrounge around for it. But take m y word for it, the effects are a treat in the eyes.
