Marvel vs. Capcom 2 in PSN And XBL

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 coming to PSN and XBL in late July

Amid anticipation of when Capcom will finally announce the date for the release of the new Marvel vs. Capcom 2, it finally dated the new game for the PSN and XBL.

Earlier, it has been reported that Marvel vs. Capcom 2 will come out on June 29 based on the projection made after Marvel Entertainment’s first quarter financial report. Capcom, however, clarified that the Marvel vs. Capcom 2 will be released by late July.

In their company’s Twitter account, they confirmed that: “MvC2 is not actually coming out on June 29, sorry guys. Not sure where that rumor came from, but it’s going to be closer to the end of July.”

Sorry to say that it would still take a month before we enjoy this new game from Capcom and Marvel. But with the surely famous beat ‘em up games produced by these two companies before, I’m sure the wait will be all worth it.

CXMB For 5.50 GEN Released Once Again

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

CXMB for 5.50 GEN Re-Released

Based on user reports, this version works better than the unofficial CXMB for custom firmware 5.50 GEN-A released previously. The CXMB For 5.50 GEN is also much more organized as seen in the screencap where the themes are properly listed under the settings category. You can bet that all applications and plugins are sub-categorized under the proper menu titles.

However, some comments have testified that this does not work for the PSP 1000 and 3000, but only works for the PSP slim version. Hopefully, this can be fixed by the developer of CXMB For 5.50 GEN so that more and more downloaders can make use of this very useful custom firmware.

Included in the download package is the CXMB itself and two CTF tools—ctf.exe and unctf.exe—for the compiling and recompiling of CTF themes.

OneManga PSP Client v0.1: Not In Beta Anymore

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Finally, after much awaiting on our parts, the full version of OneManga PSP Client was released in its first ever version. For more visual action, please see the detailed video above.

Meanwhile, here are some features that the new OneManga PSP Client will feature (aside from what was previously released in its beta form): it has a new ICON0.png, PIC0.png and PIC1.png. There’s also a new feature called the chapter navigation (your guess is as good as mine what’s it is about but from the sound of it, looks like you can jump from one chapter to another on an easier note now).

OneManga PSP controls:

  • CIRCLE – Return to chapter select.
  • CROSS – Toggle image scaling.
  • LEFT TRIGGER – Previous image.
  • RIGHT TRIGGER – Next image.
  • DOWN – Scroll down.
  • UP – Scroll up.
  • LEFT – Scroll left. [Only when scaling off]
  • RIGHT – Scroll right. [Only when scaling off]
  • DOWN + SQUARE – Fast scroll down.
  • UP + SQUARE – Fast scroll up.
  • LEFT + SQUARE – Fast scroll left. [Only when scaling off]
  • RIGHT + SQUARE – Fast scroll right. [Only when scaling off]

For future versions, there’s a planned background image loading, music, chapter navigation and bookmarks. If you’d like to try this game out, you should first read the OneManga.com direct from your handheld consoles with the OneManga PSPClient by ChaoticX.

RPG Demo v5 Released

PSP homebrew - RPG Demo v5

There was a lot of version of RPG games all throughout the years—there’s the one solely for the PC, then on some other gaming consoles too. But recently, the proliferation of RPG games made its way finally to the popular Playstation Portable.

Homebrew coder Xteaph-N enhances the common RPG game in the fifth version of his creation. The new RPG v5 features an enhanced collision system, a new camera view and so much more. The developer noted that the updates do not pertain to the battle system, but to the collision itself.

He also said all buildings have been entered, and a menu can now be found in the town. There’s also a demonstration on how to talk with the NPC. For those who are in the lookout for this new game, you guys better download this version to see Xteaph-N’s progress in this RPG v5.

A new story game is in the works, according to Xteaph-N, which he bet everyone would agree is the best direction of this RPG game.

New Gran Turismo For PSP Screencaps

Gran Turismo PSP looking gorgeous in new screenshots

I’ve always been a fan of car-race games. May they be Need For Speed or Gran Turismo (or even those simple, classic one in the old GameBoy), I always have this thing for any vehicle that moves… and I want them fast, too.

These screenshots of the Gran Turismo are not from the actual game itself (although those that have been previously released are awesome, to say the least); rather, some site believes these are from the cutscenes of the Gran Turismo for the Playstation Portable.

There’s some clean-cut graphics going on there, and I’m pretty sure we’ll be blown away once this is released to the market.

Gran Turismo PSP will launch on October 1 for the PSP Go. But fret not, I believe the creators of Gran Turismo will soon be working out on the different compatibility formats of the game for each version of the popular handheld console.

Bookr-Mod 20090623: Enhancing The PDF/DJVU/TXT Reader Capacity Of The PSP

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

Bookr-Mod 20090623 — An Enhanced PDF/DJVU/TXT Reader for the PSP

Nguyen Chi Tam’s Bookr had a revamp with the modified version of the pdf/djvu/txt reader enhancer for the Playstation Portable. A homebrew coder by the name of 2525275 has created Bookr-Mod 20090623 in response to Tam’s Bookr.

Where as Bookr provided for the means of viewing PDF, TXT, PalmDoc, DJVU and HTML documents on PSP, Bookr-Mod 20090623, on the other hand, is compiled for custom firmware 4.xx/5.xx.

Here are the modifications done to Bookr:

  • Support much more PDFs (with large images, JPEG2000, JBIG2, AES-encrpted, etc.)
  • Support PDF Outlines
  • Unicode support in PDF, PDF Outlines and file chooser.
  • Some new options to control scroll speed of d-pad and analog stick.
  • A simple thumbnail to indicate current position in page.
  • Zoom in to specified width and position.
  • Bug fixes.

But if you need a different version (say a 1.50, for example), you better check out the Google Code project page for more details and downloads.

Bust Bricks With BreakOut4PSP v0.7

Friday, June 26th, 2009

BreakOut4PSP v0.7 Released

Here’s another version of the breakout game—the BreakOut4PSP v0.7. Especially developed for the Playstation Portable, Geecko’s BreakOut4PSP v0.7still stays true to the original breakout games. Same things apply for this version—you have to bust bricks and collect power ups in the process.

This is Geecko’s first homebrew game, so we must be patient with his version. There’s some minor tweaks and bugs that I daresay should be attended into by Geecko. A couple of things like a scoring system, sound, etc are missing. But for a game still on its first stage, the BreakOut4PSP v0.7 is something we can all appreciate—young and old alike.

By the way, the BreakOut4PSP v0.7 is in French so for non-French speaking PSP gamers, I suggest you guys look for another breakout game to download.

Scion Copter Will Take You On Its Wings

Friday, June 26th, 2009

Scion Copter

Scion Copter is from the new homebrew game creator scionsamurai. Basically, the game uses the form of a helicopter as its main protagonist. The rule of the game is very simple: you have to avoid colliding with the boxes and objects that will come your way.

What’s fascinating about this game is that you don’t know exactly when it will be over for you. As the object of the game is to avoid the flying objects, you’d think that once you bumped into these objects you’ll be dead? Well no, you’ll be notified but it’s not game over for you… yet.

Controls:

* cross= go up
* l= save high score (you can pretty much leave for an hour and save your high score, but the high score is for you)
* start= game end

I know it’s a pretty simple game if we analyze it, but come to think of it, the Scion Copter is a bit like snakes and ladder. It reminds me of a game I used to have on my old Nokia where I had to break down large meteors and meteorites. But anyway, go and download this stuff and holler below for your comments.

PsJournal Beta 0.1 Finally Made Its Way To PSP Users

Friday, June 26th, 2009

PsJournal BETA 0.1 Released *Updated*

Before, there were locked diaries then there was the proliferation of blogs in the Internet. Before we know it, you can now pour your thoughts in just about any journal-supporting website. The only technology blogs and journals were unable to infiltrate were the game consoles.

But now with TheCraziness1’s PsJournal Beta 0.1, you bet that another PSP-based journal has made its way to our shores. The PsJournal Beta 0.1 will keep your entries hidden to those who are always borrowing your PSPs. It is password protected and will keep your entries secure. The password is stored in the pass.lua file (in plain text) and can be easily changed.

If the PsJournal Beta 0.1 failed to get your mind into thinking this is the best PSP journal out there then, you can also try ZX-81’s PSPWrite. If you’re a PSP 1000 user, this is compatible with an IR keyboard.
