Shortcuts Plugin Beta 1 For M33 Released

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

Homebrew Shortcuts Plugin Beta 1 for M33

This homebrew application is a custom firmware plugin for M33 that lets you assign key combinations to launch applications from your XMB. It configures shortcuts.conf so you can assign almost all your homebrew applications, making it easy for you to launch them once you need them.

It handles ISO/CSO games or UMD games and even pops games to any combinations you choose. From the XMB, you can enter those combinations and trigger the application to start. There’ll be no need to navigate through the XMB.

Here’s how to install this plugin:

1. Download the package

2. Extract them to your ms0:/seplugins folder

3. Read the notes in shortcuts.conf file (this is very important otherwise you will not get it to work if not configured correctly) and configure/assign keys to your apps/games.

4. Put this like in your vsh.txt ms0:/seplugins/homebrew_shortcuts.prx 1

5. Push the buttons and watch your homebrew run

Just like the shortcut buttons in your laptops and mobile phones, this plugin would make navigating through your applications easier.

UFC Might Come To Wii And Handhelds

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

UFC breaking into the Wii and the handhelds

THQ is thinking of bringing the martial arts to the Wii and handhelds. This is following the success of the UFC 2009: Undisputed that broke records for the PS3 and Xbox 360. Having managed to sell and release three million copies to gamers, the makers of the UFC are now thinking of bringing the game to more platforms like the Wii.

The THQ plans to launch games based on the popular UFC on a yearly basis, and to build this franchise with new technology and gameplay. There are also additional platforms and increase sales outside North America that the UFC is hoping for as its expand its global market.

“Over time, we plan to build our UFC franchise by expanding international sales and by developing games on new platforms such as handhelds and the Nintendo Wii,” Brian Farrell of THQ said.

I’m not much of a UFC watcher but I’m sure lots of guys out there would be sure to get their hands on this. After all, what’s an all-macho guy to do but also play knee-breaking and blood-spliing action games like the UFC, right?

LuaPlayer Euphoria Version 5 Is Now With Ogg And Dialogue Support

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

LuaPlayer Euphoria V5 Released: Ogg & Dialogue Support + More Speed

Homebrew developer Zack is back with a new and improved version of the LuaPlayer Euphoria. This update definitely has something more in store for us gamers. It has an ogg and dialogue support, plus it is considerably faster than the previous versions.

And because any coder who uses Lua should be stepping up their game to the fifth, Zack decided to release this upgraded version of the LuaPlayer Euphoria.

More details for the LuaPlayer Euphoria:

System:

- System.dialogue(STRING, OPTIONS) – Brings up the Sony Message Dialogue window with your text

- System.about() — Shows the LuaPlayer Euphoria version, credits and info (using Sony message dialogue system)

Ogg support / playback:

- Ogg.init() — Initialize the Ogg System.

- Ogg.load(filename) — Load a Ogg.

- Ogg.play() — Play a Ogg.

- Ogg.stop() — Stop a Ogg.

- Ogg.pause() — Pause a Ogg.

- Ogg.kill() — Stop and Free a Ogg.

- Ogg.free() — Free a Ogg.

- Ogg.endOfStream() — Get the end of a Ogg (ie . if Ogg.endOfStream == 1 then).

- Ogg.getTime(string) — Retrive the current play time position of the Ogg.

MP3:

- “end” is a reserved keyword in Lua, so Mp3.end() would never have worked… It is now: Mp3.kill()

The LuaPlayer Euphoria version 5 also uses InfraFront by BenHur and a speedup of about 8>10 frames per second.

RPS PSP Version 2 Released

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

RPS PSP v2

Remember that old rock, paper, scissors game? Well, this is an off-beat take on that classic school game I used to play with my elementary classmates. The RPS PSP 2 is based on LUA, and is very easy to understand.

For the controls, press square for “rock,” cross for “paper” and triangle for “scissors.” This version 2 has only one LUA script and makes you choose between three audio tracks. It has a different sound when you use paper, rock or scissors. And it also has a self-made PSP symbols.

It’s kinda nice to see the emergence of these old games. They’re like a throw back to the time we used to play nonsensical games like this one. It reminds me of my old buddies, and how time has passed us by that we now find our old favorite game in PSP format. Try it and you’ll see what I mean.

MegaMan The Power War Episode 1 Has An 8-Bit OpenBOR Mod

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

PSP homebrew game - MegaMan: The Power War Episode 1 OpenBOR Mod

Based on the MegaMan Power battle/fighters games, this homebrew game created by NickyP–the MegaMan The Power War Episode 1–is an 8-bit OpenBOR mod game.

The gameplay is inspired by the MegaMan Power battle/fighters games so for those who have tried the games before, you’ll know exactly what to do with this new homebrew game. But to those who are not familiar with the MegaMan Power battle/fighters games, this is simply like an “arcade-style boss rush game.”

The game is originally intended for only two players but if you like to activate its multiplayer function, simply go to Options –> System Options to change the maximum number of prayers.

The controls for this game are as follows:

This mod uses the attack1-4, special, and jump buttons.

A description of what each does:

Attack1 – Fires normal buster shot

Attack2 – Summon a helper (more on this soon)

Attack3 and Attack4 – Dodge (you can also dodge by pushing Forward twice and Attack1)

Special – For most characters, this will preform a charge shot.

Remember to set these controls in Options->Control Options->Setup Player #!

For PSP users, you have to use the eboot NickyP provided in the .rar. Place MPW1.pak into the PSp/Game/MMPW/Paks folder. And PC users should have a controller or else they will have to use the keyboard as controls.

Release Of iR Shell Patch For Custom Firmware Enabler

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

iR Shell Patch for CFWEnabler (CFWE) Released

Homebrew coder bosshunter released this iR patch for all custom firmware enablers out there. This is a patch that facilitates ISO/PXS support, and also improved the iR Shell stability (no more annoying bugs). But first, according to the maker, you have to take note of these following things:

1. The full extent of this patch only works on firmware 5.03 with CFWE 3.50 and below. CFWE 3.60 fails loading PSX titles while ISOs continue working just fine. So use accordingly.

2. Use at your own risk; this patch touches a file in flash0 that’s installed by CFWE.

3. If something goes wrong while the PRX patches the necessary files, reinstall CFWE and try again.

Here’s how to use the iR Shell Patch:

1. Make sure you have:

- iR Shell 5.0 installed;

- A fresh install of CFWE;

- The plugins loaded by game.txt are disabled;

- Replaced the IRSHELL folder with the one provided.

2. Run iR Shell.

3. Open Directory View and go to ms0:/IRSHELL/PATCH/5.03/.

4. Run btcnfpatch.prx.

5. Follow the onscreen instructions.

6. Wait a few seconds. You should see the screenshot above if it’s successful.

7. Re-enable your game.txt plugins.

And for those who are using custom firmware 5.50 GEN-A, you can also expect a patch to be released soon. But so far, we have this quite unique patch for the PSP’s other CFWEnablers so grab the chance to download it and see how it magically transform your handhelds.

Clickr On Demo Version For PSP

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

Clickr vDemo PSP

Want to practice your child’s mathematical skills? Then better if you install this game in his / her Playstation Portable to evaluate the development in his counting.

Clickr, which is currently on demo version, is a pretty simple game where all you have to do is count the cars that passes by. If you count them right, you’ll automatically be taken to the next level. If you don’t get the number right, you will have to restart the level. But because this is only the demo version, there are only three levels available for this game right now.

Hopefully, if the coder gets a good response for this, there will be a full version of the game.

Project14Xa And ProjectResistance: All-New PSP Themes

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

PSP Themes: Project14Xa & ProjectResistance

Homebrew coder PwnedTyler has issued two new themes for us–the Project14Xa And ProjectResistance. Both are in the format of CTF for 5.50, so I’m hoping we won’t have that much problem with installing and using it.

Project14Xa features a never-before-seen custom opening plugin, edited black PSN background, custom Hack ‘n Slash gameboot (courtesy of highboy), different keyboard clicks and a cool XMB wave.

Meanwhile, ProjectResistance has invisible icons with skull focus, invisible speaker bar and icon, custom opening plugin, custom gameboot and different XMB wave. It, however, has no PSP logo during gameboot.

So there you are, two themese for you to choose from. As usual, see first the readme file before installing such, and make sure you’ve got the right amount of memory and specs to make these themes work.
