PSP Custom Firmware 5.50 MHU Released For PSP 1000/2000

PSP Custom Firmware 5.50 MHU Released

The homebrew coders—Becus25 and Xenogears—of custom firmware 5.50 GEN released a new custom firmware—the MHU. The CFW 5.50 MHU is especially made for the Playstation Portable 1000 and 2000 (the flat and slim versions).

The readme file, however, is in Spanish so unless you’re some Spanish-speaking PSP gamer then you must translate the file first before plunging head-on in installing the application. You can use Altavista’s Babelfish to translate the readme text.

Personally, I’m leaning towards the 5.50 GEN (well, just because I own a PSP 3000). But of course for PSP 1000 owners, you should well go ahead with this version since 5.50 GEN can’t work that well with the PSP Fat because of memory issues.

    What is?
It is a custom firmware for version 5.50

    What do I need?
    - A PSP (Model 1000 or 2000 (not cursed)) with the ability to load homebrew.

    How to use:
Copy the folder “UPDATE” to your Memory Stick in “X: / PSP / GAME /”
Download the official 5.50 update from Sony -> http://rapidshare.com/files/223978996/550.PBP
Copy the update folder inside the “UPDATE” ( “X: / PSP / GAME / UPDATE”) with the name “SCE.PBP”
Run the update from the “Game”
IMPORTANT: When you finish the update and asked to press “X”, it is important you give it, but you’ll have a brick.

    Common Errors:

    - I do not work the way NP9660 –
    - This driver does not work now in this version, use the No-UMD mode M33. –
    - I do not work for network upgrade –
    - This version is not yet implemented.

Is there a way to remove your current version? I already updated to 5.50 and this update says its already installed.

  4. DaLi says:

dude copy the UPDATE folder in the psp game there is 2 files one for the firmware and one *SCE.PBP* , you download the official firmware from sony then you create another UPDATE folder and you add it in the UPDATE folder previously , copy the file *SCE.PBP* in the UPDATE folder of the official sony firmware and your done !! ^^ PS : you must have custom firmware :)

I cannot get this to work, yes i have custom firmware, trying to follow instructions above, but still it didn’t work for me. message: error getting status of SCE.PBP. Can anyone post a step by step ‘read me guide’ please.

  6. Bluesnow says:

Yes, please update with a more coherent guide.

I’ve followed the directions, but it doesn’t actually state where the 555.pbp is supposed to go.

You start off with an UPDATE file which contains: EBOOT.pbp and sce.pbp here
According to the directions it said to copy the update file and copy and paste itself within itself (but rename the new file SCE.PBP)… In other words it looks like this:

    psps—> Game —> Update: Eboot.pbp, sce.pbp here, SCE.pbp—> Eboot.pbo, sce.pbp.

As I said It makes no mention of where to put 555.pbp. I’ve placed it in the root, the update folder, and the sce.pbp folder and still won’t work. the main problem is when I run “psp update ver 5.50″ it give me an error “incorrect size (sce.pbp)”

Which makes me think that the directions are worded wrong xD

I’ve coppied DaLi’s very confusing description as well and I get an error saying it can’t find SCE.PBP. The problem with their description is there is no SCE.PBP file within those two files… did they rename sce.pbp here?

I don’t even need a walkthrough. just a picture of what files are where by anyways who’s gotten this to work please xD

  7. Akogo says:

U need to download the original FW 5.50 and rename the eboot.pbp to sce.pbp and put it in the update directory(where is sce.pbp here).

    Good luck!
