Alpha Tris v2.0 Released

Sunday, July 19th, 2009

Alpha TrIs v2.0

DEdDinO_94’s team has officially released the second version of their popular homebrew game, the Alpha Tris v2.0. There are more changes here, however, than the previously updated version, according to DEdDinO_94.

The Alpha Tris v2.0 is a simply-coded simulation of the infamous Tic Tac Toe game. This second versions significantly improves the speed of HB, implemented three levels of difficulty and implemented the game mode of 1 vs 1. The HB has also been translated to four languages: Italian, English, Spanish and French. There are added options too like select the language, symbols of the game, cursor, background and difficulties. This version has also redesigned the EBOOT.

The improved interface of the version adds a certain appeal to this simulated game. Giving gamers an option to change the cursor, background and the symbols of the game is a surefire marketing strategy that will seduce PSP users to download this game and enjoy an ordinary game like Tic Tac Toe in your PSPs.

First Update On MusicPRX Mod For CFWEnabler

Sunday, July 19th, 2009

MusicPRX Mod for CFW Enabler Update 1

A new update of MusicPRX Mod for CFWEnabler was released by homebrew coder junkfactory. This homebrew application is a custom firmware plugin that allows users to listen to their music or playlists while browsing the Internet or playing games in your Playstation Portables.

This latest update includes a big fix, including a fix in game mute, though it was only tested on a PSP 2000 TA088v3 with CFWE 3.60. The coder, however, explained that this may not work on all games—meaning, there are PSP games where you can listen MP3s while playing, and there are games too that prohibits you from listening to your music.

For the life of me, I really can’t imagine why we’d want to listen to different tunes other than the background musics of our games while playing. There’s something more charming to hearing the grunts of your enemies while you battle them into oblivion, right?

But anyway, for those who has a penchant to listen to Incubus, Coldplay or what not while battling it out with your favorite enemies, the MusicPRX Mod for CFWEnabler is exactly the right plugin for you.

PMPlayer Advance (PPA) 3.0.5 Released

Before the release of this version, I thought PMPlayer Advance is nothing but just another homebrew application out there. Little did I know that the PPA packs an awesomeness in media playing like nothing I ever saw before. In a nutshell, PMPlayer Advance supports MKV playback at 720*480.

What the PMPlayer Advance can support are:

PMP Format V2( *.pmp ):

  • Video:

AVC, main profile, level 2.1, < =480*272
MPEG-4 Part2, <=480*272

  • Audio:

MP3
AAC

MP4 Format( *.mp4 ):

  • Video:

AVC, baseline profile, level 1.3, <=480*272
AVC, main profile, level 2.1 or 3.0, <=720*480
MPEG-4 Part2, <=480*272

  • Audio:

AAC

MKV Format( *.mkv ):

  • Video:

AVC, baseline profile, level 1.3, <=480*272
AVC, main profile, level 2.1 or 3.0, <=720*480

  • Audio:

AAC

The PPA is multilingual, and it also supports USBHost and NetHost, subtitles and TV out on the PSP 2000. This version added the CFW 5.50 GEN-B and can now support the PSP 1000. It also now has a mixed MP4 (MKV) file delete function.

ndSuperRes: The Super Resolution Released

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

ndSuperRes

Pegasus2000 has just released the ndSuperRes, which are techniques than enhance the resolution of an imaging system. There are different view on how SR techniques are. There are techniques that break the diffraction-limit of systems while there are also techniques that merely break the limit of digital imaging sensor like SR.

At Visilab Research Center of the University of Messina, Filippo Battaglia “demonstrated the possibility of executing an SR algorithm on a simple embedded device” like the Playstation Portable. This will be possible through the use of the Nanodesktop SDK.

From these studies and researches, the homebrew ndSuperRes was born.

With this application, you can now bet that imaging will be better in your PSPs. There’s no more need for additional upgrades or what not, the ndSuperRes gives exactly what you need for your everyday gaming experience.

ndSudoku v1.0: Bringing The Math To The PSP

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

PSP homebrew game - ndSudoku v1.0.0

When Sudoku first barged into the scene, I was completely adamant about trying it out. There’s no way I will subject myself to intense torture of yes, even calculation small numbers such as 1, 2 and 3. I simply hate math, and that’s that.

But my mom, who is an avid lover of the Sudoku from the start cajoled me into downloading this homebrew game from developer Gefa so she can play the game “in style.”

ndSudoku v1.0 is a homebrew game for PSP written in Python using the Nanodesktop library.

For the controls, all you have to do is press the D-pad buttons to move the cursor, cross button to insert a number in the field and triangle to delete it. To change the existing number, use the shoulder buttons. Pressing Start will pause the game.

Surprisingly, when I tried it, I got pretty hooked into it also. Maybe just the idea of making mistakes and erasing numbers is what causing me to deny my liking of the paper-based Sudoku. Who knows? But better for you guys to try this out yourself.

PSP Custom Firmware 5.50 MHU Released For PSP 1000/2000

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

PSP Custom Firmware 5.50 MHU Released

The homebrew coders—Becus25 and Xenogears—of custom firmware 5.50 GEN released a new custom firmware—the MHU. The CFW 5.50 MHU is especially made for the Playstation Portable 1000 and 2000 (the flat and slim versions).

The readme file, however, is in Spanish so unless you’re some Spanish-speaking PSP gamer then you must translate the file first before plunging head-on in installing the application. You can use Altavista’s Babelfish to translate the readme text.

Personally, I’m leaning towards the 5.50 GEN (well, just because I own a PSP 3000). But of course for PSP 1000 owners, you should well go ahead with this version since 5.50 GEN can’t work that well with the PSP Fat because of memory issues.

Custom Firmware Enabler v3.60 For PSP 2000 And 3000

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

Custom Firmware Enabler v3.60

First of, I’m quite obligated to tell you that this is still not compatible with the PSP Fat because of memory issues. So, if you’re hoping to install this in PSP 1000, I’m telling you right now that you can’t.

Xenogears and Becus25—the makers of the ever popular custom firmware enabler—has a new update for their now famous application. This allows you to enable features of the M33 custom firmware on PSP 2000 and PSP 3000 through the ChickHEN firmware 5.03.

Here’s the changelog for the new version:

- Added option Free UMD Region
- Translation in French
- Fixato a bug related to updating network
- Improved patch to the version of system
- Improved flashing system of Custom Firmware
- Improved the code of the program
- Improved system of flashing files of POPS
- Verify the SHA1 of the files that are installed
- Reduced the file size EBOOT.pbp

This update really has more in store for us than the previously released versions. Aside from the fact that they still cannot find a way to make CFWEnabler compatible with the PSP Fat, I think having regular updates from Xenogears and Becus25 helps us update ourselves in what could possibly be the future of CFWEnabler in PSP 1000.

Lei Wulong Of Tekken 6 Video Trailer

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

Tekken 6: Exclusive Lei Wulong trailer

You can probably surmise that from my frequent posts about Tekken, I’m a serious patron of the game. Here is another trailer of one of my favorite characters from the popular game series. Lei Wulong from Tekken is the master of the Five-Style Chinese Martial Arts (although not too much combo), but his punches got some serious knock-out abilities.

Watching him kick some enemies’  asses in this video reminds me of a Jackie Chan movie I saw last year (the one he made with Jet Li). Lei has come very far since his debut in Tekken 1. And although he may have not that many combos, the quality of his combo extenders, however, is still way up there.

Tekken 6 will be released for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PSP, so do watch out for more trailers in the future.

Rubiks Cube v.20: Updating The Classic Game Of Color-Scrambling

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

Rubik’s Cube v2.0 Released

Think an ordinary rubik’s cube off a supermarket rack. It’s often I find this classic game everywhere. Exter now delivers the updated version of the homebrew interpretation of the Rubik’s Cube. With this update, you can gain experience points, bragging rights, beat your own record time and make better your puzzling skills.

You also have the option to solve all cube sizes—2×3 to 5×3. This version changes:

* The way the cube is scrambled (Added a cube size menu).
* View angle buttons changed to L + Start.
* Added different sized cubes (from 2^3 to 5^3).
Note: The controls for 4^3 and 5^3 cubes are different (see the Readme for details). 3^3 and 2^3 cubes have the same controls as in previous versions).
* Added time record at the bottom left of the screen.
* Moves are now recorded at the bottom right of the screen.

The new interface of the Rubik’s Cube 2.0 is definitely better than the previous version. Although there is no obvious change in the graphics, I bet this will be a lot better than the forst version since there are more options for the players here.

PSPVC v3.73: Video Converter Updated

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

PSPVC v3.73

A new version of the Playstation Portable Video Converter was released by Nick Swardh. The PSPVC enables you to convert videos you shot with your ordinary video cameras into a format compatible with the PSP. Now, you can view all your videos (even those from YouTube, etc) while you’re on the road.

This updated version improves a new version of DirectShowSource.dll to AviSynth and an updated Mediainfo and DGIndex tools. It also fixed a bug when joining videos and fixed another full-preview bug that previously caused AviSynth to fail.

With the PSPVC, you can now enjoy watching high quality videos in your PSPs aside from playing all those action-packed games you have installed in your console. This makes the popular portable a multifunctional device we can all enjoy.
