Sony To Pull The Plug On Yaroze PSOne Development Program

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Yaroze PSOne development program shutting down

The Nat Yaroze program is the one that made console-development possible and available to aspiring coders—the non-professionals. Now, after 12 years, Sony is said to be pulling the Yaroze PSOne Development Program from the shelves.

Through this, subscribers were able to access an online community, development software and the rare opportunity to access the black Playstation One console, which allows developers to run their own codes in the system.

However, a Sony representative assured its subscribers that there’s still a chance they will be able to hold memoirs of their beloved Yaroze PSOne Development Program. We plan to make a copy of the site available for our original members,” said SCEE’s Paul Holman. He also said that a get-together will be held for the members of the development community.

The Yaroze PSOne will be cancelled in July but Sony refused to specify the exact date of the pullout.

Fight To Stay On The Leaves With Leaf Hopper

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Leaf Hopper

First of all, I don’t know what to make of this game exactly. True, it has charm indeed although its interface doesn’t speak much. It’s rather flat and unassuming. But the Leaf Hopper certainly has style too.

In this game, you have to fight to stay on the leaves as long as you can. It consists of three levels: the first level’s goal is for you to reach the score of 500; the second for you to reach 750; and the third by reaching 1000. Of course, by reaching the third level and finishing the 1000-point requirement, you actually win the game.

Here are some features of each level:

First level – leaves will fall, so you have to stay on top of the leaf to fight them

Second level – more leaves will fall, zigzagging on to you

Third level – on top of trying to stay on the zigzagging leaves, you also have to dodge the falling nuts

There are a couple of bugs here and there like the fact that to check your high score, you have to restart the game, and there’s also a frame-skip problem in level 2. Also, the game is supposed to be played sideways but since the creator scionsamurai cannot rotate the text, you’ve got the option to play it no matter how you like it.

PSP Firmware 5.50 Savegame And Exploit Released

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

FW 5.50 SaveGame (Monster Hunter Freedom 2) Exploit

Recently, Sony released a Playstation Portable firmware update 5.51. And now, Miche2245, a German developer discovered a Game Save Vulnerability in the PSP firmware 5.50.

This firmware currently works for the Japanese version of Monster Hunter Freedom 2 and the English version of Need For Speed: Underground Work. But I’m sure in the coming days, there’ll be more games compatible with this firmware. The ability to save the game is widely needed especially for gamers who always forget to pack some extra power in their batteries.

Meanwhile, the exploit you will find in the package is for the Monster Hunter Freedom 2. After executing using the saved game, you can now make use of the ChickHen, a homebrew enabler, under the PSP firmware 5.50.

There’s a more detailed instructions on the readme file included in the download, so I suggest you take a good long look on it before you install this firmware.

Improvements For NBA Live 2010 Promised By Producers

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

Producer promises improvements for NBA Live 2010

The producer of the popular franchise NBA Live promises to have major improvement in the 2010 version of the basketball game. Sean O’Brien in his EA Sports blog said that NBA Live 2010 needs much improvement to catch up with 2k Sports.

O’Brien said that Live 2010 is doing much better in its performance compared with Live 2009. With two months still to go before it releases, O’Brien said that the revamped Live 2010 is not just “marketing speak” but would really feature improvements in the game like nothing we have ever seen before.

There will be two features to be implemented in the Live 2010—the Synergy Sports and Dynamic DNA. Through this, Electronic Arts will be updating player attributes, trends and other cariable across the entire season.

Hopefully, aside from the improvements in settings and controls, I wish EA could also develop Live 2010’s gameplay, which is really the most important aspect of all.

DayPR Rev. 5 BETA Released

I know lots of people would spend enormous amount of time in front of their laptops trying to decipher codes to cheat games in their Playstation Portables.

But with the recent release of a CWCHEAT update, my kid cousin will probably do some cartwheels with what we unraveled here. Lilmnm of Team Red Phoenix released this new version of CWCHEAT—the DayPR. Although still in its beta version, I have no doubt in my mind that this would be an awesome plugin for most PSP gamers.

With the release of the DayPR Rev. 5 Beta Version, you can now cheat your favorite games just like what we always do in our Game Genie for Nintendo.
