Homebrew coder Torch released a new update of the Hold+, which is a pretty useful application that helps you preserve battery life. Fixing bugs and some recent incorporations led Torch to updating this application to its fourth version.

This latest update is a fix release for PSP owners with busted hold switches. The Hold+ v4.0 has excellent plugins including the ability to automatically switch the LCD screen and backlight (when it is enabled) off, underlocks the CPU to 60MHz, prevents the PSP from going to suspend mode and enables the PSP Slim’s fifth brightness mode.

Eurogamer got their hands on a PSPGo pre-release and according to PSP-hacks’ reliable source, here’s what they got: The pre-release sample of the hardware comes with an unreleased firmware revision–5.70. This firmware features a lot of update and changes compared with the current 5.51.

Finally after two years, Uberjack has released a new version of the Atari800. This is an Atari emulator for the Playstation Portable.

This version changes some file support, and also fixes some bugs. It has now an emulator updated to version 2.1.0, and has an added file support for compatibility. The PSLIB was also updated to the latest version as images are now saved under PSP/PHOTOS/ATARI800. If you like using your PSP for playing music, Torch’s Hold+ is something you should have installed inside that console. This will also be usable if your hold switch us semi-busted.

Here’s how it works–when the hold switch is on, Hold+ does the following:

- Switches off the LCD screen and backlight.

- Under clocks the CPU to 60MHz.

- Turns off LEDs.
