Before we begin throwing parties for this latest news from Sega, let us first listen to the tiny details we have to know on how we can purchase the PSP-exclusive sequel to Valkyria Chronicles.

Valkyria Chronicles 2 is set two years after the release of the first game. The setting will be in Randgriz Royal Academy–a Gallian school–where the main protagonist is a probational officer forced into action when a war erupts in Gallia.

The game is slated to be released in the summer of 2010, and the good news is that it will be released outside Japan (hello, Western peeps!). So…

So remember that about a week ago we featured the previous version of LightMP3? It’s a simple enough application that will definitely rock your every day music life. With this brew, there’s no need for you to play your tunes from the XMB. All you have to do is download this free homebrew application and you’re off to a great start.

The LightMP3, in a nutshell, is an MP3 player for your PSP. This version’s changelog is as follows:

I remember the last time I played Mario in my beloved Nintendo–that was about a decade ago. And now here we are in the age of PSPs and yet no one from the original creators of Mario has the gall to make a PSP version of this game.

But thanks to homebrew coders, we now have Mario on our hands. Dan369 just released the map editor of his brew–Mario for PSP. The editor is fairly simple to use, and is straightforward. It will feature collision tiles, normal tiles and enemies. Note that the editor is in Hm7, so for those of…

Aside from the Tekken series, there’s only one game in the world of PSP that I cannot bear not to play–Need For Speed (whatever version is available at the moment). And now, I’m gearing up for another great release from the makers of the popular car race game as they unveiled Need For Speed Shift.

Need For Speed Shift is described as a game “built by racers for racers.” Its intense and almost authentic driving experience replicates what it’s truly like to be out there in the lanes, competing for that one final lap. New features include realistic first-person cockpit view…

The release of the new firmware 6.00 a couple of weeks ago caused a foreseen amount of interest in the PSP industry. Can you imagine what we can make of our own homebrew games if we managed to make it all compatible with a 6.00 firmware? The possibilities are endless, and so Matt and Jack–fondly called Mack–announced that they are tinkering with making the 6.00 compatible with MAC.

But because of speculations on the availability of this new MAC-B firmware, Mack decided to post a video explaining the details of their creation, and promising that it will be available for download…

A little trivia before we move on: AVEC GPS v5 just won in the NeoFlash 2009 Summer Coding Competition for the PSP apps division. Congratulations!

Homebrew coder Art has perhaps the most ingenious homebrew creation ever when he made the AVEC GPS. If you’re a geographically challenged person like my friend, you will need this application seriously. I mean, spending big bucks over a GPS navigator for your car might be the best way to keep track of the places you need to go to but if you can get GPS for free, the better right?

This new download from Art includes…

Unfortunately for us addicted and waiting for the Gran Turismo, it will be requiring the new custom firmware 6.00. So unless you got the new cfw enabler installed in your portable handhelds guys, I doubt you will be able to play this new and exciting game. Bummer.

According to reports from TheSixthAxis, SCEA released a voucher code to some websites so they could review the game. The download is approximately 937MB in size and requires the latest 6.00 to work. This is not really surprising at all considering that Sony has always been requiring a mandatory installation of firmware 5.55 that…

Homebrew coder Yoshihiro’s Nintendo DS emulator for the PSP just got its latest update with the beta 7 version. Yoshihiro based this latest version on the comments made previously by gamers on past beta releases of this homebrew application.

We can note that Yoshihiro packed into this new version a speed increase, the use of L and R for touchscreen and the option to choose between black or white for cursor colors. The coder also set at 2 by default the frameskin of the emulator, and has also fixed the FPS counter. And for those of you who wants to tinker…

So you want to customize your PSP with themes and all that other customization stuff? Well, here is your chance to get exactly what you want. Total_Noob just released his CXMB For Custom Firmware 3.71 To 5.50.

There is no available changelog for this release but just so you know, one can never have too many CXMBs especially if you love customizing your PSP themes. The good thing about this release though is that it will be compatible to firmware from 3.71 up to 5.50, so there will be no need for you to convert your firmwares or your themes.

Remember that…

As you very well know, we are so into emulators these days that we even found DS emulators and Sega emulators being marketed by homebrew coders. This one is a PC engine emulator for PSP released by an unknown Japanese coder. If you have the TurboGrafx-16 installed in your PSP, then this is just another update for that PC engine.

This latest update has stability features to further improve the homebrew application. If I were you, I will not be expecting more features in the download package other than the usual security measures to make your apps more stable and safe…
