PSP Gran Turismo Will Be Requiring The New Firmware 6.00

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Gran Turismo PSP requires OFW 6.00

Unfortunately for us addicted and waiting for the Gran Turismo, it will be requiring the new custom firmware 6.00. So unless you got the new cfw enabler installed in your portable handhelds guys, I doubt you will be able to play this new and exciting game. Bummer.

According to reports from TheSixthAxis, SCEA released a voucher code to some websites so they could review the game. The download is approximately 937MB in size and requires the latest 6.00 to work. This is not really surprising at all considering that Sony has always been requiring a mandatory installation of firmware 5.55 that comes along with the UMD.

But for those of you who wants a less hassle installation when Gran Turismo comes out on October 1, better download the new firmware 6.00 before getting your hands on this latest Sony game.

Sony Will Be Revealing New Disagaea Title At TGS 09

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Sony showing off new Disgaea title, more at TGS 09

Sony has just released the final list for the games that they will be featuring in the coming TGS 09. The list that I will post here is the complete enumeration of the game titles that will be on the show (although not playable) as soon as the TGS starts rolling. There’s a brand new Disagaea title and a PSP remake, Thexder, that has been widely rumored before.

From Sony’s press release, this looks to be pretty promising for a show:

- Angel Senki (PS3)

- PixelJunk Shooter (PS3)

- Thexder Neo (Square Enix, PSP)

- Crystal Defenders (Square Enix, PSP)

- Gravity Crush (Sony, PS3)

- Hustler King (Sony, PS3)

- Fat Princess (PS3)

- LocoRoco Midnight Carnival (PSP)

- Play x Catalog (Sony, PSP)

- x-Radar Portable (Sony Marketing, PSP)

- Disgaea Infinite (Nippon Ichi, PSP)

All these titles will be in Sony’s Playstation Network Zone. That means that we can assume that these titles will soon make the rounds in PSN.

Phantasy Star Portable 2 Trailer

Phantasy Star Portable 2 Prologue & Opening Movie

After confirming the release of Phantasy Star Portable 2, Sega is now releasing some video clips of their recent installment to the Phantasy Star series.

Sega’s official website has just posted a trailer of their new flagship game–the Phantasy Star Portable 2. And although everything else is in Japanese (except for Hideaki Kobayashi’s “Living Universe,” which is the song played in the background), I trust you will enjoy this video as much as it gave me something to look forward to. Really, you need not learn or understand Japanese in order to appreciate this trailer.

Phantasy Star Portable 2 is expected to be released in Japan on December 3, 2009.

Famitsu’s Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep Scans Revealed

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

Kindgom Hearts: Birth by Sleep Famitsu scans, new location detailsMore Photos

In the latest issue of Famitsu, the makers of Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep unveiled some interesting scans and info about the soon-to-be-released game from Square Enix. The info covers stuff like characters and new locations.

According to a translation by Gamertell, Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep will have three playable characters–Ventus, Terra, and Aqua. Ventus specializes in speed, Terra in power and Aqua in magic. They have also the ability to wield keychain-less Keyblades. For most of the game’s part, each of the three characters will be traveling along. But there are also some instances where they will be able to cross paths.

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep will be released in Japan this winter, although there are no release dates yet for US and Canadian residents.

Details Of James Cameron’s Avatar For PSP

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

James Cameron's Avatar PSP details from PS Official Magazine

The PS official magazine (October issue) is outing that there will be a small feature on the PSP version of James Cameron’s Avatar.

The mag, IGN, said that the PSP version will use the character of Na’vi–a blue-skinned, wide-eyed creature. The game will follow his story after he leaves the village destroyed by the RDA. The game also has a PSP-PS3 connection, and players will be able to transfer “effort points” from portable to console.

Surprisingly, I think we will have more news about the game version rather than the actual movie itself. But anyway, more details will follow as October approaches so better watch out for more posts about this game, or you can even by the PS mag October issue to take home with you.

A Short Valkyria Chronicles 2 Trailer

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

Valkyria Chronicles 2

This 15-second clip from Valkyria Chronicles 2 is just enough to tease you gamers out of your pants, and into researching what this game has to offer. I haven’t been much of a fan of the Valkyria series, but I think there’s more to this game than meets the eye. You can check the game out for yourself below.

Personally, I would have preferred playing with the old graphics than this anime-inspired version of the game. There are cutscenes of anime videos in this trailer so for those who are not much a fan of the anime, this might throw you off a bit. But really, it’s a good thing they were even able to bring the Valkyria Chronicles 2 to the PSP. I was thinking in the past that the makers may not be able to bring this series to the PSP, but here it is. We can be able to enjoy it now that it’s here.

Valkyria Chronicles 2 will be out in Japan later this year. It will be titled Senjou no Valkyria 2 Gallia Royal Academy there.

Dissidia Final Fantasy Leaked

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

Video: Dissidia: Final Fantasy leaked?

This is no big news for me. I have been playing the demo version of the game for more than a week now. I must say, the game is something that all gamers should watch out for.

The Dissidia Final Fantasy is Square Enix’s latest hit to date. And although we know they’re not so happy about this leak, I can’t help but post this video of the game’s supposed proof leak. Based on my one-week game experience with Dissidia Final Fantasy, it has amazing graphics and features. Also, its gameplay is easy enough that even by five-year-old cousin was able to win a round with Onion the warrior. I think Square Enix made a good decision with sticking to the basics (albeit with a few notches of modernity and technology) when they made flying and hitting each other with laser beams the center of this game’s attraction.

Dissidia Final Fantasy will debut two days from now, so be ready to get your hands on some real action game.

Multi-platform Astro Boy For PSP To Arrive In Japan

Saturday, August 15th, 2009

Multi-platformer Astro Boy: The Video game to arrive in Japan only via PSP

A couple of months ago, the makers of Astro Boy announced that a new video game is in the works for the PSP, Wii, DS. Now, the makers took back the announcement by saying that the new Astro Boy: The Video Game will on be released for the PSP in Japan.

A producer at High Voltage Software, Cameron Rains, confirmed that the PSP version of the game will only be released in Japan. He did not, however, provided an explanation why Japan won’t be having a release of the Astro Boy: The Video Game for the Wii. The DS version will not be handled by High Voltage.

The game has a high resolution that even increases the excitement over its release. As you can see in the screenshots, it has the incredible graphical composition that made Final Fantasy: Dissidia a instant fan favorite since its release.

Although this would only be released in Japan, I’m sure a lot of people would be waiting across the Asian shores for this one. Of course, you can always order this game online and wait for it on your doorsteps.

PSP Style Steampunk: A Fallout/Bioshock Mod

Monday, August 10th, 2009

Steampunk-style PSP Fallout/BioShock Mod

Not since AcidMods released its own PSP style to prevent shock and falling did we see something so incredulous-looking for a PSP style. Thomson09, a pspgen local, unveiled to us his steampunk-looking PSP fallout/bioshock mod. Perhaps this is not as bright-looking and flashy like some LED-laden PSP style other have got, but there’s nothing on earth that looks exactly like this PSP style.

At first you’d think this is just some handheld console that got wash away with flood, eroded, filthy, etc. But check out the video to see that it actually works for real. I don’t exactly know how they made it to look this way. The rustic features, etc. are all incredibly done that it doesn’t even look fake to me. But the real deal can be found at the back of the PSP wherein you can see some serious devices attached to it to, if I may guess, prevent the impacts of future overuse.

Now, I don’t know exactly why anyone would like to have a PSP that looks like this–old and rotten. But I guess there’s a certain charm to it that some will probably take a closer look and actually try it too.
