While we’re still eagerly awaiting the launch of the game stateside, check out the preview screens of Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep that dropped at the Tokyo Game Show last October. Square Enix has been hard at work on lots of epic graphics and audio for this game, and our heads have been exploding with anticipation of the final drop.

From the trailer, we could at least discern the primary antagonist, Maleficent. We learned that the main player-driven character is a dude named Terra, and this is his first appearance in the Kingdom Hearts realm.
There’s lots of new bad guys and…

CES showed off a new application on the PSP that transforms it into a Wi-Fi remoter control that can handle networked audio streams from the Sony-brand audio receiver.

With the application, users can adjust settings, set up and oversee playlists, and browse audio libraries right on the PSP. The XMB drives the interface in the standard implementation.

They’re still beta-testing this, so the public release hasn’t necessarily been promised for any specific date. Other software has tried out the notion of a remote control on the PSP, but hopefully this one will take advantage of the collective knowledge to produce an application…

Buzz! Brain Bender Is Run-Of-The-Mill Puzzler

We’ve gotten some time with Buzz! Brain Bender, a recent release from SCEE and Relentless. The game is full of puzzles which are actually kind of engrossing and certainly difficult for all sizes of brains, but the game itself is only lukewarm. This will appeal to fans of the genre, but might not attract the new following that the genre deserves, and may even repel the most diehard puzzlemasters.

You pretty much have to endure a number of different puzzles and then find out what your Brainpower rating is, and then see how your brain is improving over time. However, you…

Word from the underground has Midnight Club: LA Remix favored by fans of the series, and especially by die-hard followers of the extreme racing genre, and we tend to agree; this title is packed with action, looks and sounds great, and has tons of replayability. We think its features outweigh the grievances hands-down, and we’re excited to get our friends hooked on this title, too.

The city in which the game takes place is big even for games of this generation, and it’s rendered well. Cruising around look for trouble and destruction doesn’t get much better than this, especially when you’re…

Yep, the rumor mill is grinding away again, and this time there’s a lot substantiated talk of at least two more portable systems on the way from Sony. The PSP is due for a true successor, and fans have been waiting eagerly to see the second genuine ground-up incarnation of the PSP. The new package will probably look very similar to the original PSP, but should push some brand-spanking new hardware. They’ll likely focus on cranking the GPU and visual processing, and probably do some stuff to the connectivity to make online massiveness even more massive.

The other model that we’ve…

Neverland Card Battles Makes Us Kind Of Wince

Yep. It seemed like a good premise: mashing together some of that nostalgic, collectible card game fun with a turn-based strategy game. We remember how much of a good time it was to lay out some cards and tap them and put counters on them and stuff, and, heck, some of us are still doing it. Too bad it didn’t really work out in this game; Neverland Card Battles is stuck somewhere between the idea and actually creating a game that’s fun to play and has some coherency.

The graphics in this game suck. We know they’re cute and kind of…

Check out some great new screen grabs of the forthcoming game, Resistance Retribution, set to release for PSP later this year. Developed by Insomniac Games, this action shooter promises to deliver a ton of blood-curdling visuals and an eerie, engrossing plotline that’ll have genre fans on the edge of their seat.

The game follows a European conflict, with a Royal Navy Lieutenant as one of the protagonists, and some other new characters as well. The game also interfaces with the PS3 to maximize the immersive elements and to encourage expandability, as well as for the convenience of utilizing a large screen…

Insider Chatter On Forthcoming Prinny Game Promises Some Furious Fun

Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero? Yup. That’s the title of a new drop from NIS America, an action game based on the familiar, suffering penguin-things from the Disgaea serial.

So, you’re a Prinny. You’re a penguin that can wield swords. That’s the foundation of the game. The rest of it follows through like a classic platform jumper as you jump, slash, double jump, and supermove your way through enemies and bosses. The catch, though, is that the game is super hard, so you get 1,000 lives. That’s a far cry from the three-dudes-is-never-enough days of Contra (without the cheats).

We…
