Hi all

Ive got a PSP3004 UK spec psp and it has firmware 4.20 on it.
Ive tried to read up on what is required to upgrade/downgrade this firmware so I can put backup games on the PSP as Im going in to hospital in a couple of weeks for a few days and I dont want to get bored and nor do I want to take allof my UMDs.
Can someone point me in the right direction on what is needed to crack this. I know there is the possibility Ill have to get out my soldering iron and create a Pandoras. But is there a downgrader build for the firmware 4.20 so I dont have to faff about doing that? What firmware will work on the system as Im looking towards what I believe is cfw 5.51? I may have got the number wrong there.
Like I said I have the knowledge to do this sort of hacking on the TomTom and many other devices but Ive never tried with the PSP. So some pointers to PC software and firmware and how to do it would be great
Thanks

Okay so I bought a god of war slim psp for 5$ the other day and it didnt turn on. I figured, hey, I could probably part this out online. He told me he dropped it in a puddle. On recieving it I noticed its condition, it looked nice.. But the mobo was al coroded. I took all the boards and cables inside and soaked them in 92% rubbing alchahol, and it cleaned the rust and corosion right off. then I reassembled the PSP and it turned on! I worked out a few bugs involving those paperthin cables not being plugged in all the way. When I finally finished I had a great psp with 4.02 or somethign like that OFW, so I thought, lets upgrade to 5.03, then chickhenR2, then CFW5.00m33.. So I did. It worked perfect for all my homebrew i loaded onto it. I had it running perfect untill last night.. I had it in the USB mode with hold.prx activated so it could charge, so I had it on hold mode so it was like sleeping or whatever and the battery would charge through USB. I then came back 3 or so hours later and the light went off so i was going to take it off the USB. I took it off hold, and hit circle, and it whent back to my Xbox360 XMB. After about 5 seconds it crashed. I then attempted to turn it back on with no luck. I figured out it would turn on if I put it on hold first then took it off hold then turned it on. Even then it would run for only 10 seconds exactly then crash.. A few hours later I figured out if you flip it on hold, then turn it on, and while its running keep it on hold it will wont turn off, but if you take it off hold it will crash in 10 seconds... I tried making a pandora battery for it on my other CTW psp using recovery flasher and another wierd program and it didnt work for some reason and I tried making the battery on a phat with a phat battery.. So its the original battery and it should have worked but it didnt so now im stuck.. :) Anyone care to help?/

So I got Persona for the PSP, and it didn't work. So I ran it through this here decrypter:
Yoshihiro’s 5.55 & 6.00 Games Decrypter Released *Updated* | PSP Hacks · PSP Go Hacks · PSP Homebrew, PSP Downloads, PSP Custom Firmware

And now I can watch the intro video, but the game stops running after that--just a black screen. I'm thinking it's time to upgrade to a newer CFW, but I'm no expert.

I got a phat, 5.00 m33-6.
