ok, not that you know that it works, you can leave it here. running chickhen and should be able to play your games (iso emulators) though when you turn your psp off you need to load up chickhen again.

now for the next step, the helcats recovery flasher, put that onto the psp mempry card as the instructions say, and run it, there will be an agreement, then after that it will tell you what psp you have, VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU DONT PRESS ANY BUTTONS AFTER THE AGREEMENT. If it is one of the few that are mentioned in the guide then exit from that program, and you just will have to use chickhen. If it is one of the hackable ones then you can proceed in the install. MAKE SURE 100% THAT ITS HACKABLE BEFORE YOU PRESS ANY BUTTONS..

I actually tried to load up 5.03 Gen-A about 8 hours ago.

Now the problem I am getting is that after everything flashes and does what it's supposed to do, when I click the O button to reboot, the system appears to begin to reboot, but when it gets to the point of almost shutting off and rebooting, it hangs for about 5 or 10 seconds and then shuts off. When I turn it back on manually, it boots up from the load screen and shows up as Version 5.03 (OFW).

Oh, what a vicious cycle!!!

maybe your psp isnt ment for cfw.. you can just use chickhen all the time load it up play a game..

are all the files in the correct spots on the memory cards.

As far as I can tell, yes, they are. All the files are in the same location as on my 3001. When I did the Gen-A .exe I even made sure I did it for his 2000. Everything loads up good after ChickHEN, even the PS1 games and the NES Emulator are showing up. I guess he'll just have to play PS1 games for free instead of PSP games, lol.

You have been an amazing help DWG. I dont know what I would do without all your assistance.

Just curious, I still have his PSP 2001, and all I can run on it is the NES emulator. Are there any other CFW's that I can try, since it seems 5.03 GEN-A isnt working?

you can look for a different way of installing the cfw, there may be a newer version of hellcats flasher that may work.. I know that if the one that i have posted dosnt work then the newer one may not also.

OK DWG., I have more questions.

I recently performed your "how to install CFW without Pandoras Battery on a friends 1000 and all went super.

So, I got my other friends 2001 and made the attempt. First I started where I left off last time with attepting 5.03 Gen-A. It still hangs up during the CFW reboot and shuts off.

So, I tossed on the Hellcats Recovery Flasher, which I didnt understand until I hacked my others friends 1000, and made the attempt as you recommended in the post of this topic on top of page 2. It recognized the PSP as "PSP Model: Slim&Lite" so I assumed it was an older 2000 and went ahead with the install.

When I clicked on the appropriate next items according to you installation instructions, it begins to install and then immediately says something about an ERROR and requires me to leave the Hellcats Recovery Flasher.

This IS a 2001, I have no idea what motherboard it has and I cant check with the checker because it already has OFW Version 5.03.

Are there 2000's out there that are not hackable as far as you know? I am completely lost here. I thought I was getting this hack stuff figured out, but apparently I still have ALOT to learn.

there are 2000's that are unhackable, those will have come with 4.01 or higher.. Mostly anything late 2008 and all 2009 slims.. There are a few that will work. Yes there is a lot to learn to the hacking, what works what dosnt.. Did you manage to get the chickhen running?

Chickhen works, but Chickhen doesnt let you play PSX games or PSP games.

I just found and ran soemthing called PSP Ident to check the motherboard. It says it is a ta-088V1/V2, which by everything else I know is totally hackable.

I ran 1.60 Recovery Flasher (had to get it somewhere else since all 3 of your links are broke) and this is what I get when I press the button to install...

Ill look into my links. Im not sure why its failing on you.

You have all the files correctly placed on the memory card?

If it keeps giving you the same errors then your psp may not be hackable.

Try to reset to default settings, make sure the theme is the sony one, and language is the first two..

I already reset everything on the PSP twice and then turned off the appropriate items such as auto start and such. The links I am speaking of are the ones in your link for hacking without the pandora battery. All 3 of the download links there are busted. The only files I know of for this are the ChickHEN R2 with is good to go and the RECOVERY folder which goes in the GAME folder. If there are other files, I am unaware of them.

I am going to post this over in the other thread too, but I had to download OFW 5.00, drop the EBOOT into the main Memory Stick root and rename is 500.PBP. All works like a charm and now I have a 2000 with 5.00 M-33.
