well if you have a 1000 psp, you could just put cfw on it rather then trying to do exploits

fspl600, do what DW suggest, just plain ole install CFW on it. It'd be easier on you in the longrun.

Hi all. So many questions, so much fun learning.
My buddy has a PSP 2000 (havent seen it yet, dont know what version it is).
I need to ask this question... I have a 3000 and recently discovered the fun and excitement of ChickHEN R2 and 5.03 Gen-A. I would like to install this on his PSP. I read something about TA-088v3 2000 series mobos. I'm not sure if it means his has to be this mobo or what.
Can someone answer me if any 2000 series will accept ChickHEN R2 and 5.03 Gen-A or is it only later series models?
Thanks, Defender

well if the psp was bought before it had 4.01 on it (when first bought) then its not the unhackable mobo, and can be hacked.
If it had higher then 4.01 or 4.01 when bought then it may not work, though chickhen should still work, though installing the firmware to the psp using chickhen wont work

Will attempting the Gen A brick the PSP if I try and see? If someone says it will or even might brick it, I wont even bother, as I dont want to screw up his PSP.
Thanks, Defender

Using chickhen wont mess up the psp at all. Trying to install the firmware will if that fails. You can just use chickhen on the psp then play all your games, but you will have to run chickhen before every game you play. The firmware update program should let you know what psp you have, thus giving you an idea of what to do or not do.

What firmware update program are you speaking of? And could you perhaps send a link and a good step by step list of steps to follow if I have to run another program?
Sorry for all the questions requests, though I really do appreciate all your help in these matters.
Peace, Defender
EDIT: The Serial Number starts with HU1 if that helps at all. And his ofw is already at 5.03.

I would appreciate that. I don't remember you giving me this information in the past, so thanks whenever you do in fact post it.

Forgive me. Obviously I am just not understanding this. You said I need to find out what mobo my friends 2001 is. I also know that if it's the TA-088v3, then it would seem to be compatible with 5.03 Gen A (which is what I am trying to install). If its not then it would seem as though the hack in your link will work. But I am very reluctant to install either one of these. Halfway down your install thread it says...
This is the important part! If you have a PSP-3000s [TA-090v2] or new PSP-2000s [TA-088v3] Stop now. Unless you want to sit there with a nice looking paperweight. Don't come complaining back to me.
I still need to find out what version he has. I read some sort of thread for some sort of program to find this out, but 3/4 of the link doesn't make sense to me.
More help, if you aren't already frustrated with me would be super.
Thanks, Defender
