Games- The tip for getting games, especially for PSP, is what you think you would play over and over and over again. The replay value increases if it has online capability. My favorites games for the PSP are SOCOM: Navy Seals Fireteam Bravo 2, Daxter, Ratchet and Clank size matters, Star Wars Battlefront II, Midnight club, and Either Grand Theft Autos.

Video- Having videos on your PSP really makes a difference on road trips. There are free programs on the Internet for converting videos into PSP forms, for example Orbit .

Music- Unless you have a Ipod, the PSP is also good for just listening to music.

Pictures- Showing pictures on your PSP to your friends, and you can also set it as your background.

Internet- The PSP internet is fun when you don’t want to carry your laptop around. It can’t support large sums flash, so no videos, no games, no porn (unless its pictures:)

The inspired anarchical implementer, Art, has just cooked up a truly interesting piece of ‘brew that’s designed from the top down to allow y’all to find and edit monochrome and 256-color bitmaps that are lurking within firmware files. Unlike older, but similar, homebrew applications, Bitmap Hunter does allow you to make changes to the images directly.

Quick lesson, in case you’re just tuning in: A bitmap is a type of image file format that’s used to store images with a specific color depth in a lossless format; bitmaps are quite close to raw image data, although they generally include header information that’s relevant to file readers. Unlike vector images, bitmaps (which are forms of raster images, the functional opposite of a vector image) cannot scale to an arbitrary resolution without a significant and noticeable loss of quality (they’ll just turn into unrecognizable patches of blocks).

This is absolutely a clutch piece of code, and recommend that any of you who’s got a hankering for tinkering grab the download package right here and check it out. We offer up our sincere thanks and congratulations to Art, without whom we’d probably never muster up the brazen circuitry to discover and annihilate images to serve our own dubious ends.

“With PSPconsole you can view memory stick, delete, copy, cut files… sort games, use calculator, play c snake and more… when you are in XMB ;) Tested with PSP slim 5.00 M33-6.”

Couldn’t be easier, fellas. Make sure you eyeball the readme for more detailed instructions on how to install the program and for some comments on its functionality. Thanks to Hotter for this useful little application – keep up the great work!

The savvy code cook Thullium has just released an update for his pet application, Flash0 Plugin Loader. This nifty little program drops a seplugins folder into the root of your flash0, functioning just like the seplugins folder that’s typically found on a memory stick. On top of that, it resets the buffer to the exact size needed to hold the plugin text files. Thullium says this about the project:

“This has been coded for the 5.00 M33-2 custom firmware or higher, don’t attempt to run it on a lower version. The plugins you flash won’t show up in the recovery, but will be affected by the disable/enable plugins option under Advanced Configuration. The installer will modify the three bootconfigs to load a small module, which will do some patches (dynamically) for the features mentioned above. Installation takes only about 3KB of flash0 memory. Create vsh.txt/game.txt/pops.txt in flash0:/seplugins and fill them the same way as ms0 plugins, but change the path to flash0. During installation, your bootconfigs will be backed up to ms0:/btcnf_backup, if anything goes wrong or malfunctions simply copy these back to the flash0:/kd folder.”

Nifty. Here’s the changelog:

Fixed a critical bug which stopped apps in the UPDATE folder from running.

Fixed a bug that caused flash0 plugins not to load if there was no ms inserted at all.

Now, since Flash0 Plugin Loader writes to flash0, we must advise the riskiness of taking this baby for a spin. However, the worst-case scenario would be, according to Thullium, a semi-brick, so you could bring your PSP back to life by way of recovery mode. Please, folks, if you’re gonna go balls-out with this one, make sure you at least glance at the included documentation file.

Soon after the release of Game Categories Revised, Bubbletune put out a few bug fix packages to address some little quirks that new users discovered in the software. Game Categories Revised v3 addresses the problem of a mysteriously memory stick icon that pops up on the screen at inappropriate times.

The V3 bugfix follows a quick fix that came out just this morning, titled v2. V3 is now the most current version, but users expect that some problems are still resident in the code. Here’s the changelog that was written for the second version:

Fixed bug of PSX games not launching when they’re categorized.

Fixed some odd bug which made categories show up twice, and some other weird stuff. (I had already fixed this in a late build of v1, but most news sites published the initial build, which still had this bug)

It will no longer show the ‘Uncategorized’ icon if you don’t have any uncategorized games (in multi-ms mode).

Thanks to Bubbletune for bringing out the fixes so quickly. Grab the latest version right here and get started being more organized.
