I’ve got some good news, and of course, some bad news too. First off, Xenogears and Becus25 have finally released their first version of the Custom Firmware Enabler. This would finally allow select features to be in the Playstation Portable—those features that are most common in custom firmwares. Beware though that it does not include the POPs and the recovery console.

Here’s the even better stuff: the Custom Firmware Enabler v1.0 includes ISO support, which are backups of your legitimately owned UMDs). These ISOs are now working with handhelds sporting the TA-088v3 motherboard.

However, and here’s the bad stuff: PSP 3000 users cannot use this (sorry, cous). But hey, who knows maybe in the future you’ll get your own ISO support too.

Here’s the how to use the Firmware Enabler:

Copy the CFWEnabler folder to your ms0:/PSP/GAME/ directory.

Run ChickHEN R2 to enable homebrew.

Start the app called “CFW Loader for ChickHEN”. The first time it will ask you to install the CFW modules to flash0 by pressing circle; then press “X” to start.

By the way, the CFWEnabler can write to Flash0. So be very cautious while using this PSP homebrew. Remember NOT to turn of your PSPs while the modules are flashing.

I’m not much of a date or time looker, meaning I’m not usually aware of what time is it or what day it is especially when the weekend is upon me. But now thanks to new Dayviewer Beta 1 recently released for the Playstation Portable, we can now take note of the time while we’re playing.

One more good thing about the Dayviewer is that it would at least remind me of the time so I don’t lose track of it while playing… and forgetting about what I should do, like work.

Total_Noob created the Dayviewer maybe purely for this function… so we don’t get lost in the PSP’s world. Such a bummer though that he only manages to pull it off using military time, which I am not very fond of.

The Dayviewer can be seen on the upper right hand corner of your PSP screens once installed, just beside the battery icon.

Simply copy dayviewer.prx to the seplugins directory on your memory stick, enable it from the recovery menu and voila! you’re ready to go.

As my 13-year-old cousin rants nonstop about why his new Playstation Portable can’t be hacked by some computer genius, I stumbled upon an article announcing the release of PSPrx Launcher version 2.2, which could load PSP plugins for ChickHEN users. Amazing isn’t it?

Apparently, as many ChickHen users sulk on one corner waiting for Team Typhoon’s ChickHEN R3 with plugin (PRX) to be releases (which, according to sources, is nearing completion already), XMBDebug has just made available for download the PSPrx Launcher v2.2 complete with codes enabling ChickHEN users to download PSP plugins into it.

Although others say it doesn’t work for them, all have different experiences with plugins though so better try if you’re one of the few lucky ones.

Here’s the rundown on the PSPrx Launcher v2.2:

File Explorer that facilitates the choice of plugin.

Improved compatibility of the launcher.

Running PSX games! (Tested on 5.00M33-6, PSP Fat)

Comments have been so far confusing if it works for all or not. But it’s a good spinoff while waiting for Team Typhoon’s version. So, there you have it. Holler below if it works for you.
