Earlier, it has been reported that Marvel vs. Capcom 2 will come out on June 29 based on the projection made after Marvel Entertainment’s first quarter financial report. Capcom, however, clarified that the Marvel vs. Capcom 2 will be released by late July.

In their company’s Twitter account, they confirmed that: “MvC2 is not actually coming out on June 29, sorry guys. Not sure where that rumor came from, but it’s…

Mana Khemia: Student Alliance, a game forthcoming for the PSP, will definitely miss its January 2009 release date. NIS America, the game’s developer, issued a press release which affirms the delay and pushes back the release date to an unspecified time sometime this Spring. Rumors had circulated about a week regarding this delay.

NIS America claims that they game needs a few improvements in order to make sure that it’s in the best shape possible prior to release. Work will continue on the project until at least February. As we draw closer to Spring, we’ll have more information about this game…

Beginning-of-year game sales in the Japan is an important figure for some industry statistics crunchers, so Media Create has dropped a list of video game bestsellers from the period of January 5th,  2009 to January 15th, 2009. Dissidia: Final Fantasy occupies the top spot, which doesn’t really surprise anybody.

Dissidia: Final Fantasy, from Square Enix, has occupied the number-one slot for game sales for three weeks in a row, ever since it launched at #1. Not much on the list is outright startling, except that one PS2 still holds a spot in the top-ten. The PS2 really knows how to hang…

More grievous news from a straining global economy: Circuit City, the mega-brand big box store chain, is officially closing its doors and liquidating its inventory.

After declaring bankruptcy last November, Circuit City failed to find a buyer to assist in refinancing and restructuring. Speculation puts the blame on poor management, myopic retail strategy, and a refusal to stand up to its major competitor, Best Buy.

This is sad news, indeed. Hours did we spend wandering around that store, touching stuff, ogling stuff, and wishing we could buy stuff. Heck, we even got a few good deals or two on open-box stuff. Most…

For some time now, there’s been speculation that Sony Ericsson has plans to launch a gaming-oriented cellular phone (remember the N-Gage?). Apparently, the folks behind the idea decided to take the plan to the big-wigs at Sony, hoping to slingshot off the successes of the ever-popular Walkman and Cyber-Shot handsets.

Word on the street is that Sony handed down the iron fist to Sony Ericsson, insisting that Sony will only license the Playstation brand if Sony decides to manufacture the new gaming devices independently. That’s some weird intra-corporate power politicking, if you ask us.

A Sony Ericsson spokeswoman said that they “could…

A little bit of frustrating news from the clip-on hardware scene: Datel’s Lite Blue Tool does not put your PSP Brite into “Service Mode.” This is seriously disturbing to a few of us who bought the thing for that exact reason in the first gosh-darn place.

On the website, they pretty much rewrote the product description to edit out the promise of its compatibility with the PSP 3000. Instead, it states that it “lets you enable Service Mode on the PSP 2000 and also works as a normal battery on the new PSP3000 (also known as the BRITE).”

Oh, well. We expected…

Yep, the rumor mill is grinding away again, and this time there’s a lot substantiated talk of at least two more portable systems on the way from Sony. The PSP is due for a true successor, and fans have been waiting eagerly to see the second genuine ground-up incarnation of the PSP. The new package will probably look very similar to the original PSP, but should push some brand-spanking new hardware. They’ll likely focus on cranking the GPU and visual processing, and probably do some stuff to the connectivity to make online massiveness even more massive.

The other model that we’ve…
