The Hannah Montana invasion just hits the Playstation Portable handhelds. As globally, we saw how the Montana mania sweep young girls off their feet, Sony—in partnership with Disney, of course—is bringing young girls from Nintendo DS to the more sophisticated PSP 3000.

But not only that, they would be releasing a lilac-purple Hannah Montana-inspired version of the PSP 3000. The new pop princess has found a place in the growing numbers of PSP 3000 owners.

So that brings us to—in addition to Piano Black, Vibrant Blue, Mystic Silver, Pearl White and Radiant Red—six color option for the PSP 3000. The new portable…

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe just registered for a new patent that lays the framework for a system in which the PlayStation Portable will be used to operate a camera-mounted car remotely.

The system allows the car to move by way of a wireless connection to a PlayStation Portable. The environment is monitored by a mounted camera, which transmits information back to the PSP; users can thereby negotiate terrain. On the control side, the PSP can be used to capture and record video. Visual data can then be uploaded to websites and shared via the Internet. Apparently, Sony also has plans to…

Check out this modded-up PS3, which someone designed around the terrifying antagonist of the “Alien” series of films. We haven’t got many details as to how the person responsible for this piece of art went about constructing the modification, but it looks like a lot of time was spent in planning, and the execution looks absolutely meticulous.

The original “Alien” movie was directed by Ridley Scott and starred Sigourney Weaver. It was released in 1979 and introduced the world to an awesome, acid-dripping, totally evil alien that implants its spawn in the chests of humans. That alien was based on a…

Sad news for PlayStation lovers in San Francisco: The PlayStation store in the Metreon will be closing up shop this summer. The store first opened in 1999 and was the epicenter of PlayStation launches on the west coast. Other Sony Style stores certainly will remain open across the country, but none are so central to the PlayStation brand. Here’s what Sony’s got to say about this tragic development:

“Our lease with the Metreon for the PlayStation Store will expire this summer and we have chosen not to renew it. While we are always looking at new avenues for additional retail exposure…

In case you haven’t heard, Sony has released the newest system update for the PSP is now available. Word from PSN Operations director Eric Lempell is that the change is small, but sounds pretty critical:

Naturally, homebrew users will want to stay on top of the CFW, but it’s still good to hear from Sony once in a while. I mean, just once in a while. At least now and then. Right fellas? Actually, word has it that Sony might be trying to maneuver in front…

For some time now, there’s been speculation that Sony Ericsson has plans to launch a gaming-oriented cellular phone (remember the N-Gage?). Apparently, the folks behind the idea decided to take the plan to the big-wigs at Sony, hoping to slingshot off the successes of the ever-popular Walkman and Cyber-Shot handsets.

Word on the street is that Sony handed down the iron fist to Sony Ericsson, insisting that Sony will only license the Playstation brand if Sony decides to manufacture the new gaming devices independently. That’s some weird intra-corporate power politicking, if you ask us.

A Sony Ericsson spokeswoman said that they “could…
