Games- The tip for getting games, especially for PSP, is what you think you would play over and over and over again. The replay value increases if it has online capability. My favorites games for the PSP are SOCOM: Navy Seals Fireteam Bravo 2, Daxter, Ratchet and Clank size matters, Star Wars Battlefront II, Midnight club, and Either Grand Theft Autos.

Video- Having videos on your PSP really makes a difference on road trips. There are free programs on the Internet for converting videos into PSP forms, for example Orbit .

Music- Unless you have a Ipod, the PSP is also good for just listening to music.

Pictures- Showing pictures on your PSP to your friends, and you can also set it as your background.

Internet- The PSP internet is fun when you don’t want to carry your laptop around. It can’t support large sums flash, so no videos, no games, no porn (unless its pictures:)

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe just registered for a new patent that lays the framework for a system in which the PlayStation Portable will be used to operate a camera-mounted car remotely.

The system allows the car to move by way of a wireless connection to a PlayStation Portable. The environment is monitored by a mounted camera, which transmits information back to the PSP; users can thereby negotiate terrain. On the control side, the PSP can be used to capture and record video. Visual data can then be uploaded to websites and shared via the Internet. Apparently, Sony also has plans to outfit the car with a speaker and a microphone for further environmental interaction.

Another interesting element of the patent is its designation of “augmented reality zones,” which essentially are pre-determined areas with a virtual perimeter that allows for users to maneuver freely within its borders, but no further. So, users could set up a race track and race cars without fear of crashing inappropriately into obstacles outside of the scope of the reality zone. Another fascinating part of the technology would allow the PlayStation Portable to render real-life objects as computer-generated images. So, while the cars are racing around on planet Earth between road cones, the PlayStation Portable could show those cones as gnarly extraterrestrial pylons.

Gnarly.

Nishimura Kyotara Travel Mystery, a game based on the famous Japanese travel mystery series by novelist Kotara Nishimura, will arrive for the PlayStation Portable courtesy of Marvelous Entertainment. A brand new story underlies the forthcoming game, translated from the Japanese at the “bow gun murder.”

According to reports, the plot unfolds during the late summer as a victim is found dead holding on to some enigmatic pictures of swimwear. More bizarre mysteries are encountered as the game progresses. Check out some of the screenshots for a Japanese-only view of the train-based mystery game. As of now, we don’t have any evidence that the game is scheduled for a release in territories outside of Japan. Nevertheless, we’re enthusiasts of story-based narrative games, and look forward to more titles of this kind for the PSP.

Fans of the Harvest Moon series, be delighted: Here’s a few new videos from the forthcoming Harvest Moon: Sugar Village And Everyone’s Wish. Its developer, Marvelous Entertainment, released these so that you can have something to digest while they go about making last-minute tinkers.
The game, which is slated for a March 19th release in Japan, is originally titled Mokujou Monogatari: Sugar Mura to Minna no Negai. Tons of fun. If you didn’t know, the game’s basically about farming. If you’re into agrarian science, you’ll definitely want to read more about this title. Like, crops and stuff. Fields. More news here as it drops.

For those of you who have been following the Daedalus project, confirmation that it’s actually moving forward has arrived in the form of a teaser video: DaedalusX64 Beta 2 is evidently a big step forward from the earlier, very unrefined Beta 1. This is an exciting emulation project that’ll get a ton of awesome Nintendo 64 titles onto your PSP. The video rolls over some clips of games like Ocarina Of Time, Mario Kart 64, Starfox 64, Pokemon Stadium 2, and, of course, the classic Mario 64.

The video informs us that the actual release of DaedalusX64 Beta 2 should arrive “shortly.” It looks like this thing is ready to go, but we’re sure that the developers want to keep it on the tech table until they’re positive it’s in its best shape possible. Here’s a few comments from Salvy regarding the released footage:

“Just take note that all the videos were using the default settings so there wasn’t frame skip or anything that isn’t default except for Paper Mario that had Memory Access Optimisation enabled”

“Just compare the videos with beta 1 with the default settings you’ll see the big improvements that have been done for Beta 2”

This is a groundbreaking project and we applaud its innovators for bringing the code alive. Stay tuned here for updates to the Daedalus X64 project and the full Beta 2 release as it drops.

Well, gentle readers, it’s finally here: Another home-cooked piece of gaming goodness for the PSP-3000 that utilizes the recently discovered GripShift exploit. The new homebrew, titled Bomberman GripShift v1, was developed by Team P86, the same elite hacker dudes who brought you PMP VLC Player for the PSP.

Bomberman GripShift v1 is, obviously, a Bomberman clone, and it’s brought to you courtesy of the Sparta SDK and GripShift exploit that MaTiAz and Freeplay dropped just a few days back. This is a great example of the evolution of exploits and homebrew that results when savvy code warriors from all corners of the Internet build off of each other’s successes. Bomberman GripShift v1 should also work on the regular PSP on any CFW.

This is the very first release, so there’s no changelog to read. The best thing to do is jump on board and get a look at the game for yourselves. Grab it here and stay glued to the website for updates to the software as it drops. Again, thanks to the homebrew community for starting to build on the GripShift excitement.

According to sources in Europe, Jeanne D’Arc, the tactical RPG for the PSP from Level-5, never got released in the UK. It was definitely slated for a UK drop, but for some reason, it seems to have missed the mark.

Tons of RPG fans across the globe have been awaiting the release of Jeanne D’Arc, so it’s kind of a shame that the UK crowd is going to miss this, at least for now.

Level-5 is the author of the immensely popular title, White Knight Story, as well as a game still in development named Ushiro.

We’d love to hear word of a UK release for Jeanne D’Arc, so we’ll stay savvy to news from over there. Hopefully developers realize how important it is to keep all of their turfs happy and in good, fresh titles. We certainly do.
